10th Grade Science Students Tour Human Genome With Smartphones

Interested in touring the human genome and learning about the scientists who researched the various genes? There’s an app for that. Tenth grade science students supplemented their study of genetics with an interactive tour of the human genome that was set up in the lower level of McDonnell Hall. Using an app called Genome Cache students answered questions about selected genes from every human chromosome. The app provided clues to guide students through the genome and fun facts about each gene. “This activity offered a fun and interactive opportunity for students to further their study of genetics using technology that is familiar to them,” said Upper School Science Teacher Sarah Tolch.
