MICDS Autumn Music Recital

Attention all students in grades 5-8: Make plans to participate in the MICDS Autumn Music Recital this fall! It is a rare opportunity to show off your musical talent, either as a soloist or as part of an ensemble, by performing on a musical instrument or singing a song of your choice in a casual atmosphere with other Middle and Upper School students, parents and faculty. The event will be held this November in the Alumnae Room in the Middle School. Watch for further details in early fall,

Spirit Wear Closet

The Spirit Wear Closet is a place where you can donate gently used MICDS clothing or request the same! Anyone can share and receive, if the size, that is needed, is available. Bring your donations to the Spirit Wear box located in the MS checkered hallway or the US May Hall lobby throughout the summer and upcoming school year. Help recycle: MS choir shirts, boy’s navy blazers, PE clothing, graduation ties, MICDS logo’d sweatshirts and T-shirts. All donations are final and PE clothing with names are accepted. All unused items will be donated to a charity in Peru, sponsored by Mrs. Shultz (LS Spanish teacher). To request Spirit Wear items or help with this great project, please contact Mary Murawski.

Cultures Within Committee

Cultures Within is a committee of parents celebrating our diverse community at MICDS by supporting and raising awareness of multicultural activities and learning opportunities that take place on campus. Help us celebrate our Cultural Heritage months: German Oktoberfest, Hispanic Month; Chinese New Year, Italian La Befana, French Mardis Gras, and the Latin Junior Classical League competition. We need help in providing volunteers and support for the Diversity department (Erica Moore) and World Languages department (Patrick Huewe). We will also be assisting the US International council to present a Passport multicultural event that will be held in November 2011…details are forth coming. We will have an information booth at Book Days with all the details. In addition, students and parents will have the opportunity to sign up to get involved and make this great event a fabulous success. Please contact Vicky or Angela if you are interested in joining the Cultures Within committee and getting more details for all our events.
