Junior Kindergarteners Set Up Camp in the Classroom

Junior Kindergarteners study animals and their habitats all year long, but this week was special. The students set up camp in the comfort of their own classrooms as part of their study of forest habitats and the animals that live there.

“We introduce the concept of ‘nocturnal,’ and learn about both nighttime and daytime animals,” said JK teacher Ginny Otto. “One example of that is drawing owls and talking about owl facts.”

Each JK class does similar activities though not always on the same day. Some activities included coloring, making leaf pattern crowns using fall colors, making pretend campfire food favorites, or reading and relaxing in a tent.
