Read Details

We are running a late-start schedule for all students tomorrow, Tuesday, January 27, to allow additional time for students and families to travel to campus due to road conditions. Students may begin arriving at 8:30 a.m. for a 9 a.m. start. Faculty should report by 8:30 a.m. Upper School Families: There is a water main break at Entrance 6 that is currently pending repair. This may complicate traffic flow, so please allow for extra time. All after-school activities will occur as scheduled. Note that due to this schedule change, Wednesday, January 28 will not be a late start as planned for Middle and Upper School. Please be safe as you make your way to campus.

Parents Experience a Day in the Life of their Student at Parents’ Night

Parents and guardians in each division got a taste of their child(ren)’s top notch academic experience during Parents’ Night. They also had the chance to meet and learn from the talented teachers that shape the MICDS student experience daily.

Lower School parents started in the Beasley cafeteria to learn about the Responsive Classroom ® approach and meet the specialist teachers. Then, they spent time with their child’s homeroom teacher and learned how the Lower School teaching philosophies come to fruition through daily routines, learning activities and community rules.

Middle School parents cycled through their child(ren)’s schedule of classes. In each class, the teacher provided a brief overview of the goals and content for the course. Parents also met with their child(ren)’s advisor to learn about the programming and to meet other parents in the same advisory.

Upper School parents also cycled through their child(ren)’s class schedule. Teachers shared overviews of curriculum, pedagogy and student intellectual engagement goals. Parents also enjoyed refreshments and conversation in the Upper School Library, where they could learn more about student activities, library resources and the enrichment curriculum. The Student Services Team was also available for conversation in the Upper School Academic Center.
