Student Plans to Compete in Her First Half Marathon After Raising $1600 to Fight Blood Cancer

Stephanie Peng ’18 just returned from Orlando, FL, where they had planned to run the Walt Disney World Half-Marathon on January 7, 2017. Stephanie raised over $1600 on behalf of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society which gained her an entry to the race. She prepared for her first half-marathon by following a strict training regimen and attending group training sessions which began in August and ended December 31st. Stephanie did not skimp on her training, and was gifted a running hat by the team coach for attending the most group sessions throughout the fall training season. Although the Disney race was cancelled due to lightning, Stephanie and her mother are planning to run a replacement race together, the St. Louis Track Club’s Frostbite Series Half-Marathon on January 28th in Forest Park.
