Rams Earn Scholastic Writing Awards

Four Rams recently earned awards in the 2022 Missouri Writing Region of the Scholastic Writing Awards Contest. Congratulations to the following students on their awards for their personal essays, short stories, or humor pieces:

  • Golden Key: Anny Rui ’22, Personal  Essay, Reflecting on the Past with Tai-Tai
  • Silver Key: Elizabeth Suffian ’22, Short Story, Cutting Split Ends
  • Silver Key: Anna Lochhead ’22, Personal Essay, A Violent Storm
  • Silver Key: Patrick Mason ’22, Humor, Master of Wit

Winners were selected from hundreds of submissions received throughout Missouri and the Kansas City, Kansas area. Winning pieces will be published in Missouri Youth Write, an online publication that will be available in June 2022. Anny, as a Gold Key winner, will move on to the national level, and winners of a national award will be notified in mid-March.

Students Shine in American Mathematics Competition

The American Mathematics Competition (AMC) A and B competition results have been sent out and some congratulations are in store. Between the two competition dates, 43 MICDS students competed in the AMC. Nine students competed on both dates. The following results are based on those students that competed at MICDS.

  • On the AMC 12A, Alan Li ’23 qualified for the American Invitational Mathematics Exam (AIME).
  • On the AMC 10A, Arjun Puri ’25 and Henry Clay ’24 scored in the top three from MICDS.
  • On the AMC 12A, Jack Xie ’22 took top honors with Li and Siraj Mufti ’22 rounding out the top three.
  • On the AMC 10B, Azael Mayer ’24 and Puri tied for top honors with Norah Wright ’25 placing 3rd.
  • On the AMC 12B, Li had the highest score with Xie and Aishani Chakraborty ’22 placing 2nd and 3rd.

Rams Compete in Disney Showcase Field Hockey Tournament

Several MICDS students participated in the Disney Showcase Field Hockey Tournament last weekend. Congratulations to Nandini Warrier ’28 and Lydia Brown ’28 who medaled in the tournament for the Gateway Club Team, bringing home first place in the top u12 flight!

Boys Basketball Earns Two Tournament Titles

Last Saturday, the MICDS Boys Basketball team defeated Priory, 54-45, in the final game of the Fort Zumwalt North Invitational. This was the team’s second tournament title after winning the MICDS Holiday tournament title just a few weeks ago.

After a slow start, Brandon Mitchell-Day ’22 scored 16 points, all in the second half of the game, to help the Rams defeat the Ravens. Read the full recap from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch here.

Congratulations to Mitchell-Day who was named Tournament MVP and to Marcus Coleman ’23 who made the All-Tournament Team!

Boys Basketball Tournament Champs

Six Student-Athletes Make Academic All-State Football Team

Six of our MICDS football players were recently voted onto the Academic All-State Team by the Missouri Football Coaches Association. Way to go to the following Rams:

Girls Swimming & Diving Wins Final Dual Meet

Girls Swimming & Diving won their final dual meet beating Visitation, 131 to 50. The Rams went undefeated in dual meets and tri meets this season! Thisbe Diamond ’24 was strong on the board taking first in diving!
