Cole Gipson ’23 is credited as « the boy on the bike » in Where The Pavement Ends, a short documentary film that is being adapted for TV. The TV adaptation will begin airing on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. starting on May 5 on PBS’ America ReFramed and streamed on worldchannel.org. Watch the trailer here. Gipson appears riding his bike in a blue shirt and shorts.
Cole’s great-aunt Fanny is one of many voices that creates a tapestry of voices that tell the history of Ferguson and the impact of its segregation from Kinloch, Missouri’s first black city where Cole’s great-grandfather was Superintendent of Schools of and the first Black to ever graduate from Saint Louis University (1942).
Cole was also elected to serve on a Harvard panel to talk about how they helped create a makeshift school at a local library when Ferguson schools closed. Cole also spoke to a Harvard Graduate School of Education class about race, sharing his volunteer experience in Ferguson to make them aware of community health and food needs when schools shut down in emergencies.

Boys Lacrosse Team Unified Over Continued Traditions with Seniors

The MICDS Boys Lacrosse team was featured on KSDK for putting things in perspective during the quarantine. After five straight seasons of victories, the team has certainly had to pivot from what they had originally dreamt for the 2020 season. Still, the team has maximized this time to put things in perspective. Watch the video below to see how seniors are still sharing their experiences of coming up through the Boys Lacrosse program and how alumni have shared tips with the team. Thank you to Head Coach Andy Kay for conducting Zoom calls and keeping the team connected, inspired and active.

Congratulations to our 2020 Boys Lacrosse seniors!
