Skating to Theatre On Ice Nationals

A current MICDS student and an incoming 9th grader are attending Theatre On Ice Nationals in Birmingham, Alabama in June! They’ll be there for the National Novice title in Theatre On Ice. Skye Patton ’23 and incoming MICDS student Skye Brothers ’23 who is starting 9th grade in the fall will be performing a short and long program with their team.

Theatre On Ice Nationals takes place from June 26-30. Team members have passed skating tests judged by U.S. figure skating judges and they auditioned for the team. The Novice team is the highest level team for St. Louis Skating Club and for all of Missouri. If they place at Nationals they will be eligible for the world competition!

Ryan Smith ’24 is one of 17 students from Missouri out of 565 total students in America who are prepping for the Scripps National Spelling Bee. He’s included an article on Missourinet here. As he gets ready to take the spelling bee stage on May 26, let’s cheer for Ryan!

Boys Golf Swings to 2nd at State

The boys golf team was highlighted for the first day of the Class 3 state tournament in an article by STL Today with an excellent performance by Henry Mikula ’21. „Mikula’s strong performance helped put the Rams in position to win team title as well.“ As the Rams‘ No. 1 player, he tied for 5th place during the sectional round and placed in 4th during the district tournament. Also mentioned in the article are Sam Hanser ’19, Jeff Desloge ’19, Zak Mitra ’20 and Coach Changa Bey.

For Day 2 of the Class 3 state tournament in Columbia, Missouri, Jeff Desloge was pleased with an incredible score. „Desloge, who had never broken 80 in any tournament during his four-year career, fired an eye-popping 2-over-par 73 to help the Rams to a second-place finish in the team standings.“ Together, the golf team swung in a score of 633 for the two-day, 36-hole tournament, earning 2nd place. Mikula also was the 2nd place scorer with 148, Hanser scored 160 and Mitra scored 174. See the recap of the tournament’s finish on STL Today here.

Boys Tennis District Champs Team 1st place

Boys Tennis Wins Districts, Advancing to Sectionals

Our boys tennis team won the Class 1 District 5 tennis championship on Tuesday, covered by West Newsmagazine, and they will advance to sectional rounds this Saturday! The article recaps the District competition and singles tournament successes by Evan Erb ’21 and Chase Nwamu ’20 in addition to quoting Coach Patrick Huewe. The winner of sectionals will move on to the quarterfinal match. Let’s go Rams!

Undefeated Season for JV Girls Lacrosse

The JV girls Lacrosse team just wrapped up an undefeated season led by coaches Maggie Dunson and Ellee Cooke along with captains Ashley Kane ’21 and Olivia Rickers ’22. Well done, Lady Rams!

Achieving National Ranks in Gateway Field Hockey

A few of our MICDS freshmen girls participated on a winning 16 and under Gateway Field Hockey Team and earned the top national ranking! Congratulations to Jenna Bernstein ’21, Greta Wolfsberger ’22, Anna Lochhead ’22 and Brecken Calcari ’22!

Hockey is definitely the talk of the town right now, and in Middle School, our hockey team won their championship after an undefeated season! Congratulations to them on their perfect 10-0 season and a shutout victory on their championship game. Play Gloria, Middle Schoolers!

Middle School Squash Racks Up Season with Tournament

The Middle School squash season finished up with a two-day tournament that highlighted great playing. On Monday, we had 17 players take part in the tournament. At the end of many competitive battles, Haadis Amin ’23 emerged as the champion. Our runner up was Sameer Shafqat ’24 and 3rd place went to CJ Goot ’23. Tuesday’s squash games had 11 players competing. After some very hard-fought matches, Annabelle Medler ’24 was crowned champion. Second place went to Charlotte Derdeyn ’24 and 3rd place to Avery Summer ’24. It was a great season and all of the players should be commended for their hard work and great sportsmanship.

Ms. Morgan Earns 2nd Place for the Loeb Prize

We’re cheering for Ms. Stacey Morgan, Upper School Science Teacher and Head Athletic Trainer, who was awarded 2nd place for the Saint Louis Science Center’s Loeb Prize for Excellence in Teaching Science and Mathematics! Vital to our science program, Ms. Morgan has taught health and human body courses for 25 years while utilizing real case studies, diagnostic modeling and 3D-printing. „The Loeb Prize, endowed in 2002 by a generous gift from the Loeb family, honors teachers who significantly enhance their students’ performances in science and mathematics.“ Congratulations, Ms Morgan!
