Two Rams Selected for Local Supreme Court Program

Arjun Bodavula ’25 and Aiyla Ahmad ’26 were both selected recently to participate in a new program called The Supreme Court and My Hometown, an enrichment program for high school students where students get an inside look at the federal court system. As part of the program, Arjun and Aiyla get to delve into the inner workings of the federal judiciary and the Supreme Court of the United States through the lens of a landmark case on student rights that originated in the St. Louis area, Hazelwood School District v. Kuhlmeier (1988).

According to the program’s website, The Supreme Court and My Hometown is presented by the Supreme Court Historical Society. It is locally hosted by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, the U.S. District Court Eastern Missouri, the Judicial Learning Center in St. Louis, and the Federal Bar Association St. Louis Chapter.
