Winter Sports Update

The Athletic Department is pleased to share the following recaps and previews related to winter athletics activities:

Wrestling

Nick Scherer was the lone MICDS state qualifier, earning a record of 2-2 at the MSHSAA Wrestling Championships in Columbia last weekend. Congratulations to Nick, Coach Lovelace, and the other wrestlers on a great season!

Swimming

The girls swimming and diving team placed 6th at the MSHSAA Girls Swimming and Diving Championships last weekend at the Rec-Plex, recording the highest finish for St. Louis area small schools and private schools. Points were earned by the following competitors (event and place in parentheses):

Geneva Lee, Masha Podokshik, Trey Ross, and Lily Reisinger (200 Medley Relay – 4th)
Kat Friese (Diving – 1st)
Trey Ross (100 Butterfly – 7th)
Lily Reisinger (100 Freestyle – 12th)
Masha Podokshik, Geneva Lee, Megan Malloy, and Lily Reisinger (200 Freestyle Relay – 10th)
Trey Ross (100 Backstroke – 3rd)
Lily Reisinger, Masha Podokshik, Geneva Lee, and Trey Ross (400 Freestyle Relay – 5th)

Congratulations to Kat on her State Championship, to Coach Kaiser, and to the rest of the girls on a great season!

Boys Basketball

The boys team closes the regular season with two games this week, but has been seeded 4th in its district and will open play in the district tournament at MICDS versus U. City on February 25.

Girls Basketball

The girls basketball team also wraps up the regular season with games this week, but has earned the top seed in its district and will open play in the district tournament at Clayton on February 26 versus the winner of the Villa/Clayton game.
