AP Art History Students Visit Chicago Art Museums and Landmarks

Students traveled to Chicago to tour art museums and visit important landmarks in preparation for the AP Art History exam. They were able to see the art collections that include a number of pieces from material studied in the AP Art History curriculum. Their itinerary included the Art Institute of Chicago, a walking tour of Chicago architecture and public sculptures, Millennium Park, Frank Lloyd Wright’s Robie House, the Oriental Institute, the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Field Museum.

AP Art History student, Bianca Sforza `19, said of her experience, «MICDS has several courses that offer the ‘flipped classroom’ experience, where you read about something before class and then discuss it the next day. This is that same concept but to the next level. When you are sitting in an art museum looking at pieces that you have read about and seen in print, it makes you think more about the details of what the artist did to get them there. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to go on such an amazing trip with amazing people. It is so enriching to experience art on a professional level.»
